Activity badges

The sidebar shows small counts beside five pages, so you can see what changed without opening each one. There are two kinds:

  • Green: new since you last looked. Something happened that you have not seen yet.
  • Amber: waiting on you. Something needs a decision from you, and the count stays until it is dealt with.
PageColourWhat it counts
InvoicesGreenInvoices your customers paid through Plirin (online or by card) since you last looked. Payments you record yourself and credit notes do not count, since you made them. An invoice your customer paid in part still counts when you finish it that way
EstimatesGreenEstimates a client accepted or declined. Converting an estimate yourself does not count
TransactionsGreenConfirmed on-chain payments in your default currency, exactly what that page lists. Card payments show up as paid invoices instead
BillsGreenNew bills, bills a sender has reminded you about since you last looked, and new senders asking to send you bills. A bill counts once, however many times it was sent or reminded. A reminder counts only for an accepted sender and a bill that is still owed
RefundsAmberRefunds waiting for approval. Only people who can both view and approve refunds see it

A badge only appears where its page does:

  • Bills needs the Network Inbox switch to be on, permission to view bills, and a verified account email. Opening Bills before the email is verified does not count as looking, so bills already waiting are still counted once it is verified.
  • Transactions and Refunds need payments to be enabled on the account, or past payments to show.

Badges are kept per person. The owner and each team member have their own “last looked”, so a manager opening Invoices does not clear the count for the owner.

They are also kept per mode. Test mode and live mode count separately, and switching between them never announces the other mode’s activity as new. Bills are always live, so the Bills badge is the same in both modes, with one “last looked” time for both.

A page is marked as seen when you open it in its default, unfiltered view, on the first page. Opening a filtered view, or paging on, marks nothing, so a filter can never hide something new from you.

On Bills the default view means no search, no status segment, no Reminded toggle and no other filter, the default sort (newest issued first), and the first page. The Bills link in the sidebar and the toast’s Open button both take you to that view. See Bills inbox.

The Refunds badge is different: it is a count of refunds waiting for approval, so it falls as refunds are approved or rejected, not when you look at the page.

The strip at the top of Invoices, Estimates and Bills

Section titled “The strip at the top of Invoices, Estimates and Bills”

When something is new, Invoices shows Paid since you last looked, Estimates shows Answered since you last looked and Bills shows Reminded since you last looked at the top of the page, with the new items listed by number. An item without a number is listed by its customer’s email, or their name. On Invoices and Estimates, click one to search the list for it. The strip names at most five items, then says “and N more”. The strip stays for that visit, even though opening the page cleared the badge.

On Bills, each name opens that bill’s details panel directly, even when the bill is on another page. The Bills strip lists only bills that were reminded: a bill that is new to you is announced by its toast and counted in the badge, but is not listed there.

Counts start from a sensible moment, not from the beginning of time:

  • If you were already a member when badges arrived (the owner or any team member), counts start from that moment, on every page. The one exception is an owner who had already opened Bills: that owner keeps the earlier Bills time.
  • If you joined later, counts start from when your account was created.

So you are never greeted by a badge showing your whole history.

While a dashboard tab is open and visible, Plirin checks once a minute (and when you return to the tab). It does not check while the tab is hidden.

The badges are driven by dashboard-only GraphQL operations. They are not available through API keys. See Authentication and Sidebar activity badges for what each operation returns.
