Milestones & Partial Payments
Milestones let you break a large invoice into smaller, payable stages — perfect for project-based work where you bill at completion of each phase.
How milestones work
Section titled “How milestones work”- Create an invoice with the total project amount
- Add milestones — each with a name, amount, and optional due date
- Send the invoice to your customer
- The customer pays each milestone individually as work is completed
Each milestone generates its own payment link. The overall invoice status reflects the combined progress.
Example
Section titled “Example”A $10,000 website project might have:
| Milestone | Amount | Due |
|---|---|---|
| Discovery & wireframes | $2,500 | Week 2 |
| Design mockups | $3,000 | Week 4 |
| Development | $3,500 | Week 8 |
| Launch & handoff | $1,000 | Week 10 |
Milestone statuses
Section titled “Milestone statuses”Each milestone tracks its own status (unpaid → paid). The parent invoice shows:
- Partially paid — when at least one milestone is paid
- Paid — when all milestones are paid
